Heathrow Special Needs Farm

Corporate giving policy embraces special needs organizations

Slough, Berkshire, England, May 3, 2011 — Employees at Worldwide TechServices do more than provide IT service across the globe; they give back to their local communities as well.  Worldwide TechServices, an international leader in delivering technology services and solutions, with its 2400 locations and 3000 technicians have embraced the company’s corporate giving policy with an emphasis on special needs organizations.  The UK headquarters has taken Longford-based Heathrow Special Needs Farm under its wing with a series of volunteer and giving programs.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone at Worldwide TechServices for their continuous support,” said Farm Manager Lisa Jamieson.  “Our visitors are always happy to see Worldwide TechServices employees and many have developed a special bond.  We couldn’t be more pleased with our relationship with this wonderful group.”

Heathrow Special Needs Farm is a small charitable community organization that gives people of all ages with various disabilities and special needs the opportunity to interact with farm animals and participate in gardening.  In addition to many therapeutic benefits, the farm’s activities allow visitors to improve skills, develop confidence and gain a great sense of personal achievement.

“Our giving policy is built on the belief that companies should give back to the communities that they’re in,” said Steve Drake, Vice President, Client Management and Services, EMEA of Worldwide TechServices.  “Employees are encouraged to spend time at the farm and our hands-on relationship is something we’re really proud of.  And, having Heathrow Special Needs Farm within walking distance of our office is an added bonus.”

In addition to watching children and spending time with adults at the farm, Worldwide TechServices’ employees have held a variety of fund raising programs in their UK office, including a laptop auction that raised £2000 and a used toner drive that helped contribute additional funds.

“Giving is a natural part of our culture here at Worldwide TechServices and our relationship with the children and adults at the Heathrow Special Needs Farm exemplifies the kindness of all our employees,” continued Drake.
